Good evening peeps,

It's holiday time at last and we are down in Falmouth visiting Ben's folks for a week by the sea. We made a lovely purchase today in St Lukes charity shop, a delicate 12 piece china tea set. The story goes that it was a wedding present given to a pair of happy newly weds back in 1903! It is fitting that we are going to use it at our own wedding this year- 109 years later! We also purchased two gaudy, golden gilt mirrors in another charity shop which we will be giving a french - style makeover with some grey paint ready for the Nostalgic Mix fair on 31st March

Elegantly Wasted goes live!

Very exciting times at the moment as we are gearing up for our first ever vintage fair! We are going to be hosting a stall at the Nostalgic Mix fair in Totnes Civic Hall on 31st March.

Ben is going to have to pull his socks up for his paintbrush will be on fire over the next few weeks! We will be selling the (finally finished) school desk, some Edwardian folding chairs and chapel chairs complete with prayer book holders. We are also selling a 1930s deco style painted blanket box and a sideboard all of which have been given the 'Elegantly Wasted' treatment.

I have also been busy making banners out of old playing cards, gift tags and scouring ebay for lovely objects to suplement our furniture. We will be selling a selection of our Enid Blyton nature plates illustrated by Eillen Soper, these look gorgeous framed and are perfect for a nursery/childs bedroom.

So all in all, its going to be very exciting. I shall leave you with my latest purchase, a kitsch-tastic 1950s ballerina print tray. The question is, will I be able to part with it come March 31st..?

Save the Date!

Good afternoon!
At the moment we have been neglecting our restorations a little as we have had another little event on our minds- our impending wedding!

We are getting hitched on 22nd December 2012 and have just completed our Save the Date cards which have been featured by the lovely Charlie on her wonderful blog at The Natural Wedding Company. http://thenaturalweddingcompany.co.uk  We love anything rustic and natural so are going for a 'woodland' 'vintage' 'Edwardian' feel, there is no theme as such we have such eclectic tastes so are just choosing elements from all the lovely things we like and combining them together into a kind of 'vintage/rustic' vibe!

We are currently scouring ebay for china robins and deer to contribute to the look whilst squirreling away things from Ben's Dad's Shop! We have also purchased some vintage board games to keep guests entertained, celebrity masks for dressing up and some beautiful 1930s photo mounts to display photographs of our own relatives weddings!
